Ups and Downs of Sales and Sun

The sun is out.  We've had days of gray mist.  Yesterday it rained torrents, more like early spring rains.  It would have been a blizzard had the temp not been 65 F.  Yes, 65!  We can blame global warming but southern New England weather is strange.  I can remember a number of holiday seasons with unseasonably warm weather.  There was one Christmas when I was a kid which started with five inches of snow and by ten AM had warmed up to 70.  We watched the snow melt before our eyes and played in the snow in shorts!

Our sale ended on Sunday.  I did about twice as much as I expected to...which made me happy!  On the other hand, one of my reindeer (of course the favorite) was stolen.  Bummer!  It had to have been someone with a lot of gall because it was in a secure area.  We are thinking about how to implement better security....that goes without saying!  I'm sure I'm not the only one....which means the SCAA is losing money too.  It's discouraging as this is a major fund raiser.

We are switching wood stoves today and tomorrow.  We've been waiting for good weather as it will entail many open doors.  It should have been done a few months ago, but life got in the way!

There have been requests for the Cuban Bread recipe.  Just click the link.  I wrote the whole thing out....along with a few ladybugs!

It looks like it will be a good day to finish up some outside stuff....Winter just tried a roll of paper towels as a good chewy toy.

Have a sunny day....as always, thanks for stopping by............*s*

  2. What a sad thing when someone has to steal art, how can you enjoy something that you took from someone that worked so hard creating that piece?! Well, they are lucky to have such a beautiful reindeer for Christmas, but I hope they feel uncomfortable every time they look at it!
Yes, the weird weird weather we are having, got out my shorts yesterday!

  6. Dearest Suzi,
What a shame that people have to steel other people's possession and hard work; meant for a fund raiser. I know the feeling as I have been robbed at shows. Even when I did do some crocheting classes for children in Atlanta at the Teaching Museum I got robbed of my wedding handkerchief, crocheted in very fine DMC thread... Grrrrrrrrr. Not the children but one of the adults must have taken it. I recall one woman who worked with refugee women, she put a large purse on top of my display as she engaged in a conversation. To me that looked weird but that's how she did it of course. And we are honest so we don't view others right away as a thief... being on our alert.
Cute reindeer you show in this picture!
Hope you manage with your stoves and enjoy the weekend after hard work.
    Hugs,
    Mariette

  10. Congratulations on the sales, and what a bummer that someone stole your reindeer! It is hard to understand what makes a person do that.

Yes, this warm winter weather is very strange. We were glad to see the sun, too!

  11. Thank you everyone for all the kind commiserations on the theft of the reindeer. I was not the only one to have stuff stolen......I don't know why anyone thinks stealing is ok.....but of course thinking is probably not high on the lists of thieves! I am thinking of hot glueing them to boards. Any thoughts are appreciated.

The Cuban Bread is versatile.....I made some of it into pecan sticky buns. Just added a little more sugar to that portion of the dough.

    ENJOY!
