Fantastic Mr. Fox

On Tuesday I went to the post office and there I found a box of goodies waiting for me from Linda Starr.  Inside a cool bread book Our Daily Bread first published in 1970.  This is an oldie but goodie, that I once owned but lost in one of my many moves.  There are sponges.  Look at the big one; it looks like an underwater fern.  Aaaand I was going to buy a new sponge and chamois next time I went to the art store.  I think Linda can count mind reading among her many talents.

The piece de resistance is Fantastic Mr. Fox.  Has anyone seen the animated version of Roald Dahl's book?   George Clooney is Mr. Fox and this is a perfect portrait.  Right now he is hanging here in my plant sun room, but I think he is going to be down in my studio.  I find something comforting having other potters' work around me when I work.

BIG HUZZAHS and THANKS, LINDA!

Spring is here again after several days of too cool weather.  It's supposed to be in the seventies.

We're going to the pond supply store to get plants for the pond.  Hopefully once we get some plant cover on the water the fish will have places to hide from Mr. and Mrs. Red Tail, andwe'll be able to
remove the net.

I'm also biting the bullet and going to Walmart to look for some sort of containers for the gelli plates I have been making.  Yes, yesterday's Wordless Wednesday was a gelli plate.  It was so amorphous that I couldn't resist posting it.

Have a great day and, as always........thanks for stopping by...........*s*

    1. Hi Barbara.....Gelli plates are used for monoprints; I am experimenting with using them for monoprints on clay, which may be a complete bust, but you never know, grasshopper.... For lots of good info go to Linda Germain's blog http://printmakingwithoutapress.blogspot.nl/ and hit how to. I would love to see others experiment too.

    1. Hi Corinne.....I like water hyacinth for quick cover. I'm hoping for a lotus....they are so beautiful and elegant, but it has to be one that will survive the winter!

I made this plate way too thick, but I like using the silicon pans; they are so smooth and easy to release the gelli. I'll go to cookie sheets if I get into larger prints. Linda shows lining her pans with plastic wrap which works really well!

What a wonderful idea to send off some gifts before her move.
I can't wait to see what you are up to.

    1. Hi Meredith.....Linda is a sweetheart! I love the notion of gifts at moving.
I'm making progress with the gelli plates....trying to take it slow so I don't screw up!

  4. I'm amused at the "biting the bullet and going to Walmart..." we have something called "The Warehouse" here, which is probably similar to your store. I hate to visit it, but it does have useful plastic containers that are good for glaze materials... darn it!

Lovely box of goodies from Linda. Ah, Fantastic Mr Fox... the delightful and scarey Roald Dahl!!

(Thank you too for your kind words on my site) Pxx

    1. Hi Peter.....Our local Walmart is worse than most, but as you say, sometimes a visit is necessary.

Roald Dahl certainly wrote some strange stories.....oh yes!

  5. Dearest Suzi,
You had quite some lovely gifts from Linda Starr! Very sweet.
Enjoy them and with it the warmer weather. We too had unusual cool weather last week and before. Tough when coming back from the tropics to wet and cool...
    Hugs,
    Mariette

    1. Hi Mariette....Spring has been a strange season this year, but it's warmer today. Sometimes travel weather changes are as difficult as time changes.
