How Many Birds.....

Can you kill with one stone?

Monday Majolica
Monday Mugs
Handbuilt Mugs
Mug Repairs

These are all various majolica mugs I have handbuilt at one time or another.  The middle poppy mug is a black glaze the design is on white glaze.  The unglazed mug is another experiment.  I was drilling out a 'thing' in the cup and managed to go through the wall.  The mend is with thick spooze paper clay.  I will refire it before glazing.

I keep usable rejects because they remind me of What Not To Do!  I also use them in the studio and outside because I continually misplace them in those locations.  Currently two are somewhere in the garden.  My highest count has been five!

These are the exteriors of two of the little dippers.  I am also making some to bisque fire.

I know I said I wasn't going to make any new stuff until I got completely caught up with all the unglazed stuff hanging around my studio.

All I can say is that the best laid plans......etc.

I am finding myself stimulated and getting many ideas from old work.  There are variations on ideas and new paths to explore.  Staying busy is a good thing!

We are adding water to the pond and the pool over the next few days.  It's been sunny, breezy and dry lately.  It's great weather for drying clothes and clay, but it does make for faster water evaporations!

We keep changing and adding to the yard.  If I ever get my camera shutter to behave I'll take some photos.

Enjoy summer while it's here; I'm not sure where it's been going!

As always, thanks for stopping by..............*s*

  1. Being new to earthenware, I'm getting my own collection of usable, not salable, learn from pots to keep around. LOL They good thing about new projects is that they are always great learning opportunities.:-)

    1. Hi June....Rejects and mistakes have their place. A lesson that has stayed with me since I took my first drawing class (too many years ago to say) is that you never will learn what you can do with your materials until you push them so far that you find out what they can't do. Boy! Do I learn!

  2. You are an example of efficient blogging, killing all those memes with one post. Losing mugs all over the place, yep. If every all mine were clean at the same time, there isn't enough cupboard space. And many are such great learning experiences.

    1. Hi Barb....Thanks. I think losing mugs is a potter's thing. It keeps them in rotation!

  3. Dearest Suzi,
Lovely mugs and the square on at the top is my favorite...
Talking about summer, it is very hot and dry here as well. All the rains we had during the spring and summer seem to be over now. Plants don't look too happy about that.
    Sending you hugs,
    Mariette

    1. Hi Mariette.....Thanks. The square one is an attempt at a variation on an old design.
My washing machine can have it outlet hose go out the window into a barrel so all our watering is done with recycled water. I have to use a neutral, unscented detergent with no bleach so it works for me. Hopefully we will see some rain before things get really dry.

  4. Hi Cheri....I am hoping for one of our long, warm autumns. If you are willing to follow the flow if ideas you can end up in interesting, creative places.
Thanks for the hice words about the mugs!

  5. I have a few "old" or unusable pots too. They are good for storing painting brushes or holding liquid wax for brushing. It's good to look back and see how far we have come. I can't wait to see your little spoons fired.

  6. Hi Michele.....I use my rejects for everything from brushes to tea. As you say, it's good to see progress. I need to find my little stilts. The ones I put in a 'safe place' because I don't use them often and didn't want to lose them!
