(Late) Whistling Wednesday

sd
My new camera arrived.  Needless to say I am enjoying finding out everything it can do.  These are two of the shoe whistles I made several years ago.  The whistle on the clog is in the back.  The one on the slide is in the toe.  The puff in the opening on the slide is meant to be the tissue paper often used for fill in shoe displays.

They are based on footwear that I have worn.  Did I  really wear clog sandals?  Indeed I did!  The slide was red, white, and blue canvas.  I wore them every summer until they fell apart.

More cold weather.  I won't say it's coming.  It's here in a very February sort of way!  It's odd to think that, unless we have truly freakish weather, most of the snow will be gone.  A lot of gardeners think of March 1 as the time to plant the first crop of peas.  The ground here is usually either too solid or too muddy to any sort of planting.  If we are lucky we can plant on St. Patrick's Day......we'll see, grasshopper.....

Enjoy the day in whatever way floats your boat.

As always, thanks for stopping by.........*s*

    1. Hi Linda...I've been known to wear favorite shoes until they fall off my feet!

  3. I had some wood soled clogs (leather uppers) which worked much as the proverbial Dutch clogs, very handy in muddy fields. Love your whistles! Can't wait to hear more/see more from new camera!

    1. Hi Barb....I wore clogs for many years. They kept my feet off cold floors and were great in our sloppy spring yard!

    1. Hi Gary...Thanks! You are probably colder than we are. Eight here with wind chill. This is the time of year when I seriously question my sanity in living in New England! I love to bitch about the weather......it makes me feel warmer! Have you noticed that the days are getting longer?

  6. Those are sweet.
I never plant outside before April 15th, we've had ice storms in GA before then. Stay warm.

    1. Hi Lori......I tend to push a bit when it comes to planting. I have a small garden next to the south side of my house which always is several weeks ahead of the rest of the yard. I like to get in a few sugar snaps for a treat!

  7. Dearest Suzi,
Love both of them and yes, I too did wear clogs, with leather upper and they were very comfy! Fun slides too and I like the way you created the whistle.
Oh, here it for sure is late spring too. Always on Mom's birthday (12th) we had the Japanese magnolias blooming but their barely are buds growing out now. Hope they will not turn brown this year so we can finally after years enjoy them. Stay warm and yes, we have all to be patient...
    Hugs,
    Mariette

    1. Hi Mariette....I think we all wore clogs; the were comfortable and could be stylish too.
Plants sometimes are over enthusiastic. s It's not unusual to have the wild blueberries bloom and get hit by a late frost; it cuts the crop to almost nothing!
      Enjoy your week end!
