A New Friend?

This dragonfly landed on my sleeve when I was out by the pond.  For some reason it took a liking to me.  When I tried to move it walked onto my hand.  Fortunately I had my camera with me so I managed, rather awkwardly to get a few shots.

I think I'm going to be doing a lot of winged critters on my pottery for the next few months.

Here a couple of small piggy banks.  It's odd that I have lived among oak trees for the last forty years, but have rarely used them in my work.  Go Figure!

The flower pig is an experiment.  The feet are glued on and it's glazed with one design then a couple of coats of glaze and a new design.  Toes crossed, that this works!

The sun is trying hard to come out after a week end of rain.  We had over  3&1/2 inches over the week end.  No complaints as we had all of 1/3 in in May!

As always, thanks for stopping by........*s*

  1. Pigs are great, but you've definitely been chosen by that dragonfly...so join me in winged creatures. So far I've just done ladybugs and Monarchs. What are you thinking about? Can't wait to see!

    1. hi Barb....We may be experiencing a Summer of the Bug! You are fortunate to have monarchs; ours are few and far between. Now I am looking for milkweed seed so we try to get them back. BTW, I love your monarchs and the way you use them on your work.
I've been drawing luna moths and now dragonflies. I'm hoping the praying mantises return to the dahlias this year.
      We'll see, grasshopper, we'll se.....

You're right! Pigs fed on acorns are supposed to be delicious!

  3. I love dragonflies! I always imagine that they were once huge creatures before being put under a spell to make them tiny . . .
Your pigs are wonderful. Hope the new experiment works too.

  4. A friend of mine tells the story about how she was walking to her mailbox and a luna moth just fell into her hand. She held him until he died (they live VERY short lives and mostly at night). She also took it as a sign and started putting luna moths on her pots. They are very beautiful and popular.

  6. Dearest Suzi,
That must have been a very special messenger to you; lovely photo with one hand!
Your acorn piggy bank is so adorable and yes, often we forget about the things that surround us for so long... But you made this one and it's never too late.
Wishing you a very happy 4th of July!
    Hugs and blessings,
    Mariette
