Turkeys!

Well not so much turkeys as Winter'd opinion of them, which is to chase them away or at least out of range of her run.

Turkey poop is quite another story.  It's the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow when it comes to favorite things to roll in.  Needless to say that a shower was in quick order.  The rug went out to me hosed off.  This stuff stinks.

Winter was not a happy camper, but then neither were we.

Have a terrific week end and, as always, thanks for stopping by.............*s*

Time Fugits

It's been a long time since I posted, but as they say........

Time flies like and arrow; fruit flies like a banana (Groucho Marx)

This rather lonely cardinal has been hanging around lately.  I think he's a young male, looking for a lady friend.  It's nice to see birds around.  We didn't have many this winter.  I think it was because there was so little snow that they found plenty to eat in the woods.

We can hear the birds in the woods; it's mating season!

Finally the weather has been warm enough to start opening the pond and pool.  This is what we call the Dribble Fountain.    The little frog sat on the water table for the better part of the day.  Everyone enjoys a warm, sunny spring day!

I bought pansies, delphinium and another columbine yesterday.  Today is cloudy with a little drizzle and mist, perfect for planting!

I've been busy in the studio making more whistles, but mostly cleaning.  There is a reason it's called Spring Cleaning.  Even after this mild winter we need a lot of it!

Enjoy your week end wherever you are.  Hope my down below friends are not too cold yet!

As always, thanks for stopping by..............*s*

Dreams

Gary has the best dreams and tells about them at HIS BLOG!

I rarely remember my dreams, but when I do they are strange.  A few days ago I dreamt about a menagerie of these clay animal whistles.  In the dream they were all walking around a barnyard and making a lot of noise!

Of course I had to have a go at making them.  Pictured are two chickens and a wannabe goat!  I have never made any of these as whistles or for that matter in any three dimensional form.

I'll try to take some shots of my process in the next few days.

Tuesday afternoon was an early birthday!  Both my copy of Robin Hopper's SWAN SONG,  and the Linda Arbuckle mug I ordered from Cindy Bracker arrived Tuesday afternoon.  I've had a cozy afternoon watching the dvd and drinking tea!

Swan Song is such a generous gift from the Great Grasshopper himself!  It's full of history, photos, short instructional videos, gardens which will make you want to tear up what ever you have growing and start again.......and all tied together with Robin's wry, irreverent humor.  It's worth every penny of the purchase price.  To make things even better the proceeds go to two charities!

Thanks Robin!

We are finally having some sun without freezing winds.  It's supposed to be nice all week end.  Toes crossed!

Have some fun in the sun!

As always, thanks for stopping by..............*s*

Memories

My brother Bob would have celebrated his eighty-fourth birthday today.

This is a very old photo taken ca 1943/44 during the Cherry Blossoms.  He is with our paternal grandmother Lydia Wiggett Caswell.  I have a feeling the year was 1943 because my mother always said the cherry trees bloomed late the year I was born, which was about a week later. Yes, that is the Jefferson Memorial in the background across the tidal basin.

We are having a strange day of snow with whiteouts, sun, sleet and wind!

Stay warm and dry in the coming cold week!

As always, thanks for stopping by...................*s*
