We have had what we think is a pair of bluebirds visiting. The first photo I took was months ago of what I assume what was the same one sitting outside a window in late snow flurries. He was definitely not the bluebird of happiness!
Yesterday we were happy to watch Mama (?) with three babies taking baths in a puddle formed in a tarp we have by the wood pile. I wish I had been able to get a picture, but no go!
We have been seeing more wildlife this year. I think it's because the old farm down the hill from us is being developed. We have a pair of red foxes, many more deer, and turkeys among others. Although it's kind of sad to see a place going to houses, I take comfort in the fact that the Management Area still covers a lot of this area.
The hot weather continues. Rain, except for a few showers, continues to elude us. Hopefully we will get some today! At last the pool is swimmable and the various caterpillars have pupated and laid their eggs. Maybe we will have a cold winter and a wet spring.
We'll see, grasshopper......we'll see.........

no idea if that is a blue bird but it looks a blue colour. We can look towards the end of winter and it was a fine mild day Down Under today.. (still cool nights though)

Love those bluebirds! They just give out such cheer from being colorful. And they sing nicely too!

ReplyDeleteWell, we too are praying for rain here, it is such a struggle for our plants and for the lawn... Yesterday we went to our friends' home for a swim in their very warm pool but we suddenly got rained out as a big thunderstorm came up.
We're only in birds eye view about 4 miles away but no drop for us...
Love your bluebird photo and yes, we watch them daily taking a bath in one of our 2 bird baths. They're so beautiful and especially the males.

Hi Mariette.....Between caterpillars, moths. and drought it's been quite a summer. We too have microclimates; we will often see storms go right around the top of our hill.
DeleteThe bluebirds like bringing their fledglings to bathe. I have three bird baths out. Some are on the ground to provide water for little animals.
